Abraham adaptation to Desmosedici “going well

The Czech rider completed his second official Test on the Ducati bike he will ride in his rookie MotoGP season in 2011 in Malaysia last week.

Karel Abraham’s second Test on the Ducati Desmosedici GP11 at Sepang last week produced another important step in the Czech rider’s preparations for his debut season in the premier class in 2011.
After his first contact with the 800cc machine in Valencia last November the 21 year-old was back on track for the official MotoGP Test in Malaysia, where he registered the 15th best time across all three days.
Whilst lap times may not have been the main priority for Abraham and his Cardion AB Motoracing team, the fact that the former Moto2 rider closed the Test at just 1.888s off the top time will have provided further encouragement in addition to the solid progress he made in his continued adaptation to the Ducati.
“We focused mainly on the front and rear tyres, and the behaviour of the front and rear in the turns,” said Abraham, who also explained that he had experienced similar issues with chatter as highlighted at different stages of the Test by factory riders Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi. “At first the front was chattering quite a bit, then the rear was sliding a lot so we had to do something with it, and that’s what we’ve been working hard on.”
On his development as a MotoGP rider, Abraham said: “I think it’s going well. It’s a very difficult bike to ride because it has so much power and I’m not used to it – I think it will take a few more Tests for me to get completely used to it.”
“The lines are completely different to how it was in Moto2 or 250cc. I have to learn a completely new style of riding and that takes time,” he concluded.
